Animal-Like protists- "protozoans" WOOOT

Animal-Like protists- "protozoans"
unicellular and colonial
eukaryotic
heterotrophic

Endo Symbiont Hypothesis
~ First eukaryotic cell was formed by a symbiosis among several
prokaryotes which lost the ability to live on their own.

* I personally feel very happy that the first eukaryotic cell has the ability to live together with friends =)

Ciliates: motile, cilia, free living
ex: PARAMECIUM!!!

Flagellates: motile, flagella, reproduce asexually by binary fission and sexually
ex: trypanosoma- African sleeping sickness
ex: trichonympha- digest food

Sporozoans: non-motile, parasitic, reproduce by spores.
ex: Plasmodium- causes alaria

Sarcodina: "False-feet" pseudopods
ex: Amoeba- some cause amebicdysentary

*******DISEASE- infection caused by many of these!*********

Kingdom protista and my crazy opinion

Kingdom protista

- free-living
-eukaryotic
-unicellular forms, colonial forms
- 3 types:
-animal like
-plant like
-Fungus like

My personal favourite is the animal-like protista because it looks like a random blob of goop!! AH
